You Go At It Alone...

Keeping weight loss a secret may seem like a good idea but letting people know may work in your favor and increase your odds of success.

What To Do...

Tell someone, friend, family member, it doesn't matter who, just tell someone. They can provide encouragement and be role models. At the very least they could not act a bad influence. It was found that dieters who had a support system lost 6 percent more weight than those who went at it alone!

Your Fridge Resembles A Grocery Store Display Case...

To much temptation with a well stocked fridge or kitchen. The more choices the possibility for a bigger appetite.

What To Do...

Choose one item a week to splurge on. Have a little everyday to keep away the cravings. Be sure not to bu another snack type item until the first one is gone. When eating out, skip the buffet and stick to the specials board; fewer options and most likely fresher food.

Workouts Are Always The Same....

Your body gets accustomed to same exercise. When it is no longer a challenge for your body it doesn't have to work so hard and then you end up burning less calories.


What To Do......

Change it up! Turn up the speed or intensity on the treadmill then, tun it back down. Do kick boxing instead of aerobics. Give your body a new challenge or a more intense version of the same old thing!

You Love E-mail....

With the age of technology came less face to face communication and less body movement.


What To Do..........

get up and go see that coworker in person. Here's why, each time you go see a coworker in another department or area you burn calories. How many you wonder, about 10 round trip. No laughing please! Now I know that doesn't seem like an awful lot but imagine if you did that 5, 10 or even 20 times in a day. Go ahead, you can do the math. Oh, different attitude about it now!

You Don't Count Calories, Ever!

Tsk, Tsk, how do you expect to lose weight if you are not paying attention to what you consume!


What To Do...........

Keep a food diary or journal, write it all down. Why, you may actually find you eat less junk if you have to write it down. Try to get in the habit of writing down every bite you put in your mouth.

You Celebrate Workouts..........With Candy!

Women tend to eat 120 more calories after intense exercise than after light exercise that burned the same amount of calories.


What to do......

You worked out way to hard in the gym to go an gobble down a bunch of junk that will just ruin all the hard work you just did. So keep a healthy snacks in your gym bag or car.

Try this, 1/4 cup dried cranberries, 2 tablespoons of shelled sunflower seeds and toss then in a zippy bag. You will have the protien your body needs after a workout and the carbs to satisfy your hunger. Cranberries also contain an antioxidant that will help with post workout inflammation.

Diet Mishaps - #2

You Work Late.....

We all love the extra cash that you earn from working overtime, I usually spend mine on myself. A study in the International Journal of Obesity reports that women who work 40-plus hours a week are more likely to gain weight. Yikes, is that why I am over weight?..nahhh. Desk jockies, I am one of those are more likely to eat fast food and not have the motivation to exercise. I don't eat out but I certainly don't feel like exercising. As a women your body was made to hang on to fat when we experience stress, especially chronic stress.

What to do....

Figure out when you are most likely to hit a slump then do something playful or soothing. Have fun with your officemates who may also hit a slump. Toss a ball around the office, just make sure that it is a soft one!

Your Clothes....

What?!? Your clothes, what the matter with them? Wearing over sized or clothing that does not show your figure can actually not show you when and where you may be gaining weight. Clothes that are to big and comfy, I love them too, don't get tight or uncomfortable.

What To Do...

Put on a pair of jeans that fit and keep tabs on the rear-end. They say jeans don't lie! Try to wear them on the weekend when you maybe apt to eat more. Remember, once you drop a size, give them a away, don't keep the "fat clothes" to fall back on.

You go to the grocery store on the fly! Don't do it and as I have said before and can not stress enough, DON"T GO WHILE HUNGRY. Try the new thing in shopping, try it online. A study from the University of Connecticut at Storrs found that dieter who shopped online bought fewer high-fat foods. They also found that people tend to stick to their list.

If you don't have the option of shopping online and having your groceries delivered or to pick them up at the store, try to stick to the perimeter of the grocery store. Also, try to stick to your list, I know it is hard and I find myself straying from the list for that bag of cookies that is just screaming my name! Do your best and don't beat yourself up if you do stray...
