Day 6 - The dreaded weekend is here

I Know I can do this! I am just going to keep myself busy, that's all. There is a Working Womans Weekend event going on at the mall today. I want to go and check that out. I think as long as I stay focused I will be just fine.

So last nights supper was shrimp and steamed Broccoli. The shrimp was on the menu but as a different dish. I am not sure what is for breakfast yet, I just got up a little while ago and have not looked yet. I think it is a Spanish Omelet.

Day 5 - Friday is here!

Fridays make me nervous! I am home for 2 days and although I start off strong..I never win the race! Being home with food everywhere makes it hard to stay focused and on track. I am going to do my best and I will not beat myself up if I falter.

So last nights sinner was supposed to be a stir fry with ground Lamb! EEEKK, not for me so I was going to subsitute the lamb for ground turkey. Well I should have stopped at the store on my way home but I didn't. I got incredibly lazy and didn't go. So I ordered in, yup, but I am proud of myself. I ordered a chef salad and used my own oil and vinegar dressing! Fit right in the Zone for the most part.

Today for breakfast was cottage cheese with blueberries and strawberries with a side of macadamia nuts..good as usual!

Lunch was a large chili from Wendy's. Something I should have made last night at home but I needed to go to the store. Chili something you could get for fast food on the Zone so I stuck to protacal.

I Love The Zone

All I can say is I feel GREAT! It is amazing how I feel after just 4 full days. I don't feel so sluggish and tired, my skin has cleared dramatically. My skin is clear, no acne or blemishs, but I do have dry skin. My face and arms had these patches of dry skin, and they looked horrible. Well all those patches are gone! The bloating in my belly is gone, so now I feel better because I don't look "pregnant". The amount of energy I have is wonderful, no longer looking for a nap during the afternoon. I have never taken naps partly because I wake up extremely grumpy but would often wish I could. So if anyone reads this blog and you want to try a new way of eating, try the Zone. Go get yourself the book A Week In The Zone. Just give yourself one week, if you don't feel better then go back to what you are doing. If you feel great then you are going to want to continue.

Day 4 - 4 Down, 3 To Go

So yesterday was a pretty good day. Last night for supper I made another stir fry. My husband whined all day about it because it contained Morningstar Farms Protein Crumbles. He did not want to eat them but agreed in the long run. So he got in the shower while I made supper and when he got out he asked what smelled so good. I said "Dinner."
Well after we ate he looked at me and said "I am so sorry I gave you such a hard time. That was one of the best meals I have had and it is a keeper." I must agree that it was very good..So last night supper consisted of fresh mushrooms, some onion, fresh broccoli, a little olive oil and of course, Morningstar Farm Protein Crumbles.

So this morning for breakfast was 3 pieces of Turkey Bacon, 4 egg whites with a little olive oil, grapes and Mandarin oranges. Lunch is going to be a little interesting..Veggies with dip, which sounds great BUT the dip is made with Tofu, Chickpea's, olive oil, Swiss cheese, onion soup mix and lemon. I hope it is good!

I Just realized something!

All day I have been walking around and I just relized that I have not had to pull my panties up!! I know sounds crazy but I'll tell ya I do feel alot less bloated. Usally my panties roll down under my belly fat..today not like that at all! How cool is that?!?!?!

Food & Your Mood

I was reading on about what you should eat depending on your mood.

If you are feeling Anxious you should eat a chicken wrap without the mayonnaise.

Why you ask? The 4 or 5 ounces of protein will create dopamine and norephinephirne..what are those you ask? Click the word to find out!

Or they are basicall brain food...they help keep you alert.

Who wants a brain like this?

Day 3....Hump day

Hurray it's Wednesday!!! Oh yeah and Day 3 of the Zone..So far so good. I must say that when I ate dinner last night a 7 pm I really was not hungry. They say you must eat no matter what! This whole new way of eating looks very promising and because I am not hungry if feel very positive about it! I have yet to start exercising, I figure one step at a time..I did decide that I will start walking starting Monday morning.

Last night for dinner was 4 1/2 oz of cod with a little onion, fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of parm cheese and 1 1/2 cups of green beans. It was very good! I must say the recipe called for 2 tablespoons of onion and after Mondays meal with the excessive amount of onion, I used 1 tablespoon.

Today:

Breakfast was cottage cheese with strawberries, blueberries and 3 macadamia nuts..yummy.

Lunch is a cheese burger with 1/2 a bun! Talk about a tease...slice of tomato, lettuce, mayo, dill pickle and applesauce. Sounds a little skimpy, but I will stay positive!

Day 2...On My Way

Well, I made it through day 1. Last nights dinner would have been great if I had tweaked it a bit myself. Dinner was chicken stir fries with broccoli, snow peas, ginger and onions. Now the onions were a bit much. The recipe called for 3/4 cup of onion and it was just way to much. Now I like onion but when all your food tastes like onion then it is a bit to much. But other wise it was pretty good.

So this morning I wake up and I feel a lot less bloated. I feel like I lost 5 lbs, even thought I didn't. But I feel great!!

This mornings breakfast consisted of plain yogurt, blueberries, almonds and turkey bacon. It was good, you have to have a taste for plain yogurt but I like it so it works for me.

Lunch today is tuna with celery, olive oils and vinegar dressing, 1/2 a cantaloupe and more blueberries.

Day 1.....Let's Eat

So today, so far, has been an interesting day. I got up, as usual at 5:30 am grabbed a cigerette and went to go make coffee, oops no coffee, trying to kick the 2 pots a day I drink. So I went and sat on the commputer for a little while, hopped in shower, woke my son up at 6:30 am and oh yeah, ate breakfast. Now I normally do not eat breakfast till about 9:30 am. Talk about choking it down! Not because it was bad but because I am not hungry that early in the morning. My sense of eating is going to change.

So for breakfast....

Cottage Cheese, Pineapple, Mandarin Oranges and 3 Macadamian Nuts..Filled me up for sure and I actually got hungry around 11:30 am.. Not bad!

24 oz of water

Lunch...

Chef Salad - Yummy....Lettuce, Mushrooms, Celery, Turkey Breast, Lean Ham, Swiss Cheese, Chick Peas and Olives Oil and Red Wine Vineagar Dressing.

A little about me

Anyone who knows me, knows I have been trying everything in the world to lose weight since I had my son. Which was 12 years ago!! I am sure that most of my problem is pure laziness but now that I am 31 years old the weight doesn't come off as easy as it use to. I guess I am just tired of being over weight. I don't want to be super model thin, but I want to be comfortable with my own body. Which as of right now I am not!! So now that I am back to taking weight loss seriously again, I decided I would try some thing new.

I have tries several different diets. Let's see, there was Atkins, Weight Watchers (I joined every year for 6 years), 6 Week Body Make Over, Cabbage Soup, umm and just plain starve yourself diet. I would say that by far Weight Watchers seemed to work the best for me. The one problem is that it allows me to eat the foods I love..JUNK FOOD.

My weight problem started at 18. I think I was a little depressed. My parents had just moved away and I had gotten pregnant. I had my son 5 days after my 19th birthday and I really never got a grip after that. My problem was not eating alot of food, it was the food choices I would make. I would much rather eat chips then a piece of fruit. So I am hoping with trying the Zone, that I will get healthier.

Week One stats (I will update every Monday and the label to see them will be "stats")

Weight: 230 lbs

BMI: 40.8

Waist: 46"

Hips: 49 1/2"

So please check in daily to see how I am doing. It is a new experience for me, one that I hope to strive on!!! Have a great day!

One Day To Go

I am so excited!!! I start the Zone diet tomorrow. Today I will be finishing up my shopping and getting ready. I will also take my body measurements and weight. I haven't decided if I am going to share those yet. So I am off to go get the last cup of coffee for a week and if I like this way of eating, it just may be my last cup of coffee for a very long time..We'll see
