My Big Day!

LOL..not really a big day but it has been the first week that I have been really good in a while. In about 5 hours I will be hoping on the scale one again. Hopefully this time with a better outcome. My husband is so funny he keeps telling me I am beautiful just the way I am! That is great and all but let's just be honest with ourselves here, I am certainly not what I was when we met. I now have this roll on my back which he refuses to acknowledge. "No honey, your wrong, you don't have back fat!" he always says. Yesterday I finally replied with "It is okay to be honest about it, no need to lie to me about something I see everyday!" Needless to say, he never said a word.

They say sleep is also a key to losing weight, sometimes I don't think I get enough. Today for example, it is Saturday and I woke up at 5:00 AM, go figure. Maybe I need a better mattress, like a memory foam mattress. How nice would that be?? Anywho, I am going to start my laundry and pay some bills..Then i am going to get in a quick walk before my weigh in. Hopefully I will have good news when I come back later today.

Are You At Work Today?

I'm not...it is so nice to have a day off for one. I am please to say that I have NOT raided my cabinets or fridge! Usually boredom sinks in and I self destruct. Not today though, I plan to have a nice weigh in tomorrow and I am not about to ruin it, that's for sure!

Diet Mishaps - #10

You Go At It Alone...

Keeping weight loss a secret may seem like a good idea but letting people know may work in your favor and increase your odds of success.

What To Do...

Tell someone, friend, family member, it doesn't matter who, just tell someone. They can provide encouragement and be role models. At the very least they could not act a bad influence. It was found that dieters who had a support system lost 6 percent more weight than those who went at it alone!

Lights, Lights and More Lights

I have never seen such a selection of lights in my life! I think that Magnalight.com has every type of light imaginable and quite honestly, I never knew that there where that many different types of lights. You can get everything from roof lights to equipment lights and most likely everything else you are looking for! Just need a simple flashlight , they have those too. I guess you could call it your one stop light shopping store.

They even have a gift section for men. If you know someone who wants a special light and you don't know what to get them, then you can always get a gift certificate. That way he can pick out what he wants and you don't have to worry about getting the wrong thing. Makes me think, this would be the perfect gift for my father in law. He wants to get a spotlight to put on his house. He just moved to a new house and he is on a dead end street, the very last house on the street!

So with all that said, check it, I was amazed at the selection of lights. With lights for every aspect of life or business, you might just find what you need here. So if you are business owner looking for equipment lights or a homeowner looking to light up the yard, stop by and check them out.

Diet Mishaps - #9

Your Fridge Resembles A Grocery Store Display Case...

To much temptation with a well stocked fridge or kitchen. The more choices the possibility for a bigger appetite.

What To Do...

Choose one item a week to splurge on. Have a little everyday to keep away the cravings. Be sure not to bu another snack type item until the first one is gone. When eating out, skip the buffet and stick to the specials board; fewer options and most likely fresher food.

What's In A Sign?

Well, really that depends on you and what you are trying to say! Maybe you are trying to promote your business and need a little mobile advertising. One of those Magnetic Signs just may do the trick because the advertising is free and it goes where ever you are! You could also use Magnetic Signs to announce anything, a milestone birthday or a snarky comment, it really is all up to you! You don't need to have a business to have a sign. Promote anything you like!

You defiantly want quality at a reasonable price and that is where BuildASign.com comes in. The also allow you to design that sign right online saving you the hassle of finding a designer, thus cutting costs at the same time. Customer satisfaction is key these days and they are defiantly looking to please each and every customer. Check them out and see what you can design and most importantly, have fun with it!

Taste Testing....

We are all guilty of it! I am and you, yes you, may be guilty of it too. Every bite here and there are uncounted for calories and fat. Before your done stirring and tasting you could possibly have consumed a whole meal before you even sit down to eat.

What To Do....

Keep your mouth busy, chew gum, eat fresh veggies or just try talking to someone while you are cooking in the kitchen.

Dedication

I am hoping for a really good weigh in this week. I have stayed on track all week and even started to exercise. Dedication is key and without it I will not accomplish my goals. I started putting my stationary bike to use again, for something other that a clothes rack. Every day I have rode it. I started with 15 minutes on Monday and have added 5 minutes everyday. Lat night was 25 minutes and it was the first day my legs didn't feel so much like jello when I got off. My goal is to ride it for an hour a day until the weather warms up and stays pretty consistent, then I will walk instead.

My job has a walking program, you can earn up to $500.00 from April to October, $1.00 a mile. You actually receive gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods. I think maybe I will jump in on that one this year. We'll see, I would have to do it after work in the summer because walking in the heat during work hours just isn't my thing! But during the Spring, no problem!

Watch What Your Doing

So my husbands work load has increased! He is a driver for a small company that heat treats parts and just recently one of the other drivers at work has been taken off the road. He had is 5th and final accident! This last one was not his fault entirely but still, enough is enough! A truck accident lawyer is not what company owners want to spend there money on these days, especially with the cost of gas. So now my husband and one other driver have to pick up the remainder of the work load. This means longer work days and more time away from home, which may not be such a bad thing... for me! HA

Nothing I Can Do

My Mom was supposed to have surgery today and it was cancelled. I feel really bad for her she was so looking forward to having it done.

I'll explain a little, My mom has been suffering from headaches for years. She has tried medications and who knows what else. She is now 53 and has decided that she has had enough, that she really didn't want to live like this anymore. I am not really sure what it is called but she was going to have this procedure done where wires are placed on her skull and then are run down her back and connected to a computer like pain zapper that is placed in her butt cheek. She recently when through the trial phase and it worked wonderfully for her. You could hear the difference in her voice in a week. She didn't sound so tired, she was laughing again and most importantly, she was free from her headaches.

The next step in the trail phase was to remove these wires and she how well her head healed up. The permanent one is much more invasive and they wanted to be sure that everything was going to heal okay, which it did. The one problem, she is to skinny, I know, sounds odd but she is 5'7" and currently weighs 104 pounds! This eight is not by choice, the doctors feel that she may have an allergy to Gluten. Last summer she was 125 pounds but she got really sick and ever since then she has not been able to gain weight. The doctor is afraid that since she has little to no body fat that her body will reject the thing they are going to put in her butt cheek.

The second part of this devastating news is that the hospital she was going to have this surgery at will no longer be doing them. The doctors office has promised her that they will find a hospital that will do it. I have convinced her to give the Gluten free diet a chance but to make a real effort at it. It really surprises me that she didn't when they first brought this up to her. She has a sweet tooth and usually is able to control it and I think that maybe she is just not liking the idea that she can not have the things she likes. In our conversation she was more devastated that she couldn't have Salad Dressing than the idea that a piece of chocolate was not allowed. So me being me, hoped on the Internet and found some things. Newman's Own has some Gluten free salad dressings. When I told her that it started to peak her interest and by the time we got off the phone, she said she would try again. She tried it before but I don't think there was a genuine effort. The reality of it is either she gains some weight or she never gets to have this surgery.

1/2 A Day

Today I have a half a day of work, yeah for me! Not really, seeing as I have a meeting at Zachary's school. He has been terrible at school lately and as I have posted before, it all started when he started seeing his father. Not really sure what is going on in that house but I am not liking it at all and now all the hard work he has accomplished has gone down the drain. Dammit, I am so pissed off about it!

After that I am not quite sure what I am going to do, maybe relax, read some blogs and check out ladder racks. Why ladder racks? Well my Dad wants one for his truck and I figured that it would be a nice gift for Father's Day. I would have to get it now because when my Dad wants something he doesn't wait to buy it!

Sooo..The Scale Said

I didn't do so well! No one said weight loss was easy BUT I actually have been out of control the last couple of weeks! I did have a loss though of -.2 lbs, ugh! I really have no one to blame but myself, being an emotional eater doesn't help either. I don't over eat to much when I am happy, it usually happens when I am stressed and on Friday I was so stressed I didn't eat at all! That isn't good either. It was actually a first for me, not eating when I am stressed, so this must have been a new level of stress for me. Last week was one of the worse weeks for me. Oh well, there is light at the end of the tunnel, right?

Rent vs. Buy

I have often thought about buying a house but at the same time I wonder if it is the right thing to do. With the current housing market and my personal life, sometimes it doesn't seem like the best thing to do. A mortgage seems like a scary thing to me, I mean really it is just another bill and I often wonder if it would cost us more money to buy than rent. We would have to decide if we wanted a Fixed Rate Mortgages or adjustable. There are property taxes, homeowners insurance, home repairs and who knows what else. Right now I pay a set amount each and every month plus my utilities. I would think a fixed rate is better than an adjustable, I mean it would be the amount every month, right?

I really think the ups and downs of the housing market scare me the most and at the same time I don't know whether the building I live in now is paid for. Does my landlord still have a mortgage and if he does what type does he have, one of those Fixed Rate Mortgages
or something else? Could I still be at risk? Any thoughts are welcome!
