Yes, It's True

My name is Ann Marie aka Diamond aka Diamondssaphire, I have another blog and I am addicted to blogging! My dear friend Cliff figured it out and outed me! As he posted on his blog it is called Nonsense, fun, tears, happiness and anger all rolled into one! aka in my blog list Nonsense.

My Nonsense blog was started back in 2006 but never really took off until my son started having a hard time in school. I felt like no one in my life understood and blogging was a great stress relief for me. Then it became much more, my son was diagnosed with ADHD, Tourettes, Auditory Hallucinations and ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder). The Tourettes or at that time they just called them Tics. It was believed to have been brought on from the use of Ritalin. When he stopped taking the Ritalin the Tics were supposed to go away. They slowed down and just recently have been re occurring quite frequently. "School Is Out For The Summer" is the post that really seem to explain it all for my readers.

I have posted about any and everything at Nonsense, from things that make me happy to things that just down right piss me off. Everything from my rocky marriage to being a step mom to things I have read or seen on tv. Just a whole lot of, well Nonsense!

Halloween and A Little Imagination

Halloween is one of, actually no, it is my favorite holiday and when I tell people they look at me funny and ask why. Why, because I love to see the creativity of a child's mind, not because I love evil things! I myself, as an adult still let that creativity flow, as should every adult. All the different monsters and ghouls my son has been over the years have all been created through my imagination.

For those of you who have no imagination or no time to prepare, I have found a great site for you. It is called Halloween Adventure and boy are they loaded with costumes! There is a huge selection of Adult Halloween Costumes that you can choose from. Everything from Pirates, to your favorite television or movie characters, monsters and for you sexy ladies, there are even Sexy Costumes. For those of you who are a little thick in the middle, they also have Plus Size costumes! Everyone should able to dress up if they want and to find a plus size costume can be a little difficult, but not here! They cater to the needs of everyone, even your pets!

Not only do they have costumes, they also have decorations and props. Halloween is more than just getting dressed up and going from house to house filling a bag up with candy, there need to be fun and excitement involved too. For me, decorating my house, inside and out, really gets things going for me.

So the next time you are invited to a Halloween Party or any party that may have a theme behind it, or that hard to find Childrens Costumes remember Halloween Adventure and don't forget to let your imagination lead the way.

Check Out Your Heart.

This blog was originally started about my weight loss efforts and at times I seem to get off track and post about other things as well. I also wanted people to know about other health related issues, as our lives are very important.

So this site one to check out. We have all heard of St. Judes Medical and have heard of the things they have done. Well they sponsor a site called the HeartLibrary. This site is and interactive video library where you can go and learn about the anatomy of the heart, Arrhythmias, Heart Disease's and other conditions like Sick Sinus Syndrome. You can also find patient stories and doctors to help you if you need it. So if you find this site interesting and or informative, please pass it along to family or friends who also might want to learn more.

Win, Win...I hope

So I decided to take part in the walking program at work. As much as I was against doing it I found a way (I hope) to get my son a little more motivated about keeping up his room. Zachary gets a standard allowance..$5.00 a week to take the trash to the road and put dishes away. He also does other things that help calculate that allowance.

Our biggest battle is the bedroom, ugh! So I made a deal with him, since work pays me to walk in the form of gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods and he is now at the age where he want clothes and shoes and other things, then as long as he takes 15 minutes a day and cleans up his room, I will walk and the gift cards will be his. All this providing he holds up his end of the bargain (I made him shake on hit!) Oh and I take pictures in the morning for proof!

I am hoping for a win, win situation here. My ultimate goal is to get him in the habit of keeping his room clean and I lose the weight. Is bribing him the right thing? Of course not but when you do something everyday for a long period of time, it becomes a habit. Hopefully!

So yesterday at lunch, I put on my sneakers and walked 2 miles. Zachary did his part too, he cleaned under his dresser's. It needed to be done and done badly. So far we are off to a good start.

Not So Smart Choices

Last week I told you all about my stupid sister in law who is now in jail for breaking into some old man's house, hitting him on the head with a frying pan and stole his money and acid reflux medication. Well she has a date with the judge this Friday and is facing some serious time if he doesn't allow her to go to a drug rehabilitation center. I would be surprised if he did let her go, she has been in nothing but trouble for years. She has already been to jail and she has also been sentenced to rehab one before so the chances of it happening again could be slim to none. I feel very badly for her three kids, especially my 13 year old niece. My only hope and prayer is that my niece doesn't go down the same path as her mom!

A Date With My Son

I think today I will take my son to go see a movie. We haven't been to a movie in ages and I would really like to do something with him before he goes back to school tomorrow. He spent his whole week of summer April vacation up in New Hampshire with my parents, last night we went to a friends house for dinner.

All I can say is thank goodness that I don't like movie theater popcorn, it is everything else I need to watch out for. But I have started new and I have no intentions of screwing it up just because we are going to go to the movies. That's for sure!

Not So Well

I haven't done so well the last couple of weeks with Weight Watcher's. Dieting is a P-I-A sometimes and I always find a way to sabotage myself! So today starts a new week for me. Back to writing it all down and continuing my walking. I must add that I have been very good about making sure I still exercise during my little hiatuses! That may have saved me from gaining a couple of pounds.

This past week has included a few days of not making such good eating choices..(slaps self) We went to dinner at Lenny and Joe's A Fish Tale on Monday, I chose the platter. The yummy assortment of wonderfully fried seafood (slaps self again) consisting of shrimp, scallops, clam strips and fish. Oh yeah, fries and coleslaw too! I didn't eat it all...way to much food. Tuesday and Wednesday, we ate at home. Thursday, well, we went to West Wings Bar and Grill, you see what is in the name right? Wings, yes I had wings (double slap) and beer. I must say they were not the best I have ever had, so I know I will not being going back there.

So now that my week of destruction is over and the slapping has stopped, reality has sunk back in and I am back on track. I must say it sure wasn't worth it...not at all! So I am going to hit up the grocery store and make this a good eating week! I wish there was a miracle pill...(wonders what I can find a GNC to use the GNC coupons I have...probably not much except multi-vitamins)

Type A

I found this over at Liquid Illuzion........

You Have A Type A- Personality

You are one of the most balanced people around

Motivated and focused, you are good at getting what you want

You rule at success, but success doesn't rule you.

When it's playtime, you really know how to kick back

Whether it's hanging out with friends or doing something you love!

You live life to the fullest - incorporating the best of both worlds

Do You Have a Type A Personality?

I would have to agree that is true!

Do You Golf?

I don't, although I have always wanted to learn.

Golf could be a good way to get some exercise in and have some fun too! The catch, you would have to ditch the golf cart and walk from hole to hole! I know, that sounds scary, maybe because you would also have to tote your golf bag around with you too! Here is a fact for you:

  • The walk around an average golf course is 4 miles!

We all know walking is good for you and your heart, so why not give it a try a couple of times a week. If you haven't golfed in a while then dust off the Cobra golf clubs and get outside in the fresh air. Maybe someday we can meet up and play a round of golf!
